Deadline to file for November ballot is Tuesday

KILMARNOCK—The deadline for candidates to file the paperwork necessary to appear on the November 5 ballot is only five days away. Those interested in declaring their candidacy for office have until 7 p.m. Tuesday, June 11, to submit the required paperwork with the county registrar.

As the ballot is shaping up locally, incumbent Republican Sen. Ryan McDougle will seek reelection in Senate District 4. He will face a challenge for his seat from Democrat Stan Scott.

Incumbent Republican Del. Margaret Ransone will seek reelection in District 99 for the Virginia House of Delegates. She will face a challenge from Democrat Francis Edwards.

In Lancaster County, according to voter registrar Susan Jett, incumbent Commonwealth’s Attorney Jan Smith is running for reelection. He will face challenges for his office from Maggie Ransone and Republican nominee Anthony Spencer.
