Details posted for Lights on the Creek holiday boat parade

Boats of all shapes and sizes are invited to participate in Lights on the Creek.

On November 30, the Rappahannock River Yacht Club (RRYC) will host the 2024 Lights on the Creek holiday boat parade.

“Decorate and illuminate your boat and join the annual lighted boat parade,” said Glen Solt.

RRYC will be open to the public from 5-6:30 p.m. to enjoy hot cider and cookies while viewing the parade. As well, the parade can be viewed at any water access point along the Carters Creek route, said Solt.

Participating boats will gather in Gaskins Cove at 5 p.m. and will depart starting at 5:45 p.m. Guided by the RRYC club boats, the parade will travel past the yacht club and up the creek beyond the Tides Inn, where it will then disperse. Boaters can then follow the lead boat back as far as the club if they wish.

Prizes will be awarded for best illuminations, most imaginative, best family boat and any other appropriate category to describe a wonderfully decorated boat.

Beginning at 7 p.m. all club members, parade participants and their guests are invited to a post parade party at RRYC featuring red beef and white chicken chile, cornbread, salad and dessert. The fee is $25 and it’s bring your own bottle. Prizes also will be awarded at this time.

Register for the parade and after party at www.rryc.org.
