LANCASTER—At the request of board of supervisors chairman Jason Bellows, superintendent Dr. Steve Parker last Thursday reported on projects for school buildings totaling an estimated $4,891,000.
“There have been a number of comments that have been made in the past about sick buildings and delayed maintenance costs on our current facilities. So I asked the chairman of the school board and Steve Parker to come in and give an update on air quality studies that have been done and where we are on the current maintenance and what the forecast is on projects so we can plan accordingly,” said Bellows.
The projects are a wish list of sorts that eventually need to be completed, he said. However, they are on the five-year capital improvement plan.
District 1 supervisor Jack Larson said he had heard there are some health concerns within the school system related to the buildings.
“There is absolutely no disagreement that we need to deal with any situation that is jeopardizing the health of people that are in the buildings,” he said…..
