LANCASTER—Elaine M. Ronayne, 83, of Lancaster passed away peacefully Sunday, January 9, at Bon Secours St. Mary’s Hospital, Richmond.
She was born and raised in the Appalachian mountains of West Virginia.
Her professional career of 32 years was working for the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA). She served several tours of duty in Greece, Taiwan, Israel and Brazil. Greece was her favorite where she spent four years. She received several awards during her career. When she retired, she was awarded The Career Intelligence Medal.
She then moved to the Northern Neck. She worked part-time at LaVogue and Office Supply in Kilmarnock, The Perfect Touch in Lively, and volunteered at Seconds Unlimited. She loved staying busy and being with people.
Elaine is survived by her husband of 38 years, Bill; her two sons, Joseph S. Asero Jr. (Deborah) and John Asero (Heidi); her sister, Linda Williams (Richard); her brother, Jack Johnson (Barbara); six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Currie Funeral Home LLC of Kilmarnock handled the arrangements.
