Fall classic regatta to benefit hospice sails September 29-October 1 from Irvington

The 28th Turkey Shoot Regatta, in support of local hospice programs, will be held from September 29 through October 1 on the Rappahannock River just above the Robert O. Norris Jr. Memorial Bridge.

The regatta will be hosted by the Rappahannock River Yacht Club (RRYC), at 100 Rappahannock Road, Irvington, and co-sponsored again with Yankee Point Yacht Club. To add to the beauty of the sailing fleet, the Jamestown Settlement’s SV Godspeed will join the regatta compliments of the Jamestown Yorktown Foundation. She is an authentic replica of one of the three boats that brought the first permanent English settlers to the Jamestown colony.

And another historic ship berthed in Deltaville, the Luna, a replica 48-foot Virginia sloop of the Colonial Seaport Foundation (colonialseaport.org) also will visit.

Best seen from the water, these two handsome sailing vessels will not be open to the public during….
