Fifth graders present ‘Goldilocks on Trial’  

Chesapeake Academy thespians delivered an irreverent courtroom escapade with a fairy tale cast of characters. Was justice served? That depends on your perspective! On March 10, the Chesapeake Academy fifth and sixth grades presented “Goldilocks on Trial” by Ed Monk, a comedic one-act play that reimagines the classic fairy tale as a courtroom drama where Goldilocks is prosecuted for breaking and entering.

As this reader’s theater production directed by Robin Blake unfolds, the primary officers of the court, Melvin, the Bailiff, portrayed by Daniella McLaughlin; Judge Wallaby, Kenzie Ruddock; District Attorney Muffinhead, Shannon Wilson; and Attorney Wombat, Millie Mayhew guide the action as the defendant, Golden Wynn Locks, August Goodrich, watches, reported head of school Catherine L. Emery.

The play features testimony from a dysfunctional family of bears….
