The Rappahannock River Yacht Club (RYC) in Irvington hosted the Cape Dory Typhoon National Championships May 29-31. Typhoon sailors from around the country participated.
On Friday evening, a social gathering was held at RRYC sponsored by Evolution Sails of Deltaville, reported Kevin Stepko. Crews from Maine, Michigan and South Caroline met local Typhoon fleet racers, race committee personnel and the RRYC commodore Glenn Solt.
Following a mandatory crew briefing Saturday morning by principal race officer Gary Hooper, a dozen Typhoons departed Carter Creek to find conditions on the Rappahannock River ideal for racing….
