Fine arts professor to lead Workshop

The RAL Art Center, 19 North Main Street, Kilmarnock, will host fine arts professor Pam Fox in a “Painting on Photographs” workshop for photographers and artists of all levels. The workshop will be held from 10 a.m-4 p.m. August 18-19.

“Ms. Fox will inspire creativity and personal expression to create new and exciting imagery,” said workshop chairman Cheryl Mihills. “Her workshop explores the use of photography with mixed-media applications combining photographic materials with oil paints and unique surface treatments.”

Painting on photographs dates to the 1800s and many of these photographs still exist. Modern artists also paint on photographs as a creative medium.

Fox is an Elliott Professor of Fine Arts at Hampden-Sydney College. Her photographs are represented in many corporate and museum collections including the permanent collection of Virginia Museum of Fine Arts.
