Grand marshal Warner Rice has 40 years of service with
the Fairfields Volunteer Fire Department. The FFVD
sponsored the parade.
Here comes the golf cart parade. The Friday night spectacle attracted 21 decorated entries. A pavilion party followed at the Reedville Fishermen’s Museum.
Fawn’s Delectables Cafe entered their 250 birthday cake and coffee cart in both parades. The entry won first place in the annual patriotic golf cart parade on Friday, July 3.
Chloe Altaffer placed second in the golf cart parade with an eagle’s nest complete with balloon eggs, representing the birth of a nation.
Lilian Lumber Company parade participants blasted spectators with water canons, a prelude to the annual Fairfields Volunteer Fire Department soaking at the parade’s conclusion.
First District Congressman Rob Wittman walked the entire parade route shaking hands and greeting constituents.
While parade participation and spectator attendance may have been down slightly, enthusiasm was explosive. The Northumberland High School Booster Club escorted the NHS Indians Dance Team, one of few marching units in the parade.
