The architecture of the centuries-old Hague House always caught Jeffrey Miller’s eye on trips with his family to vacations in the Northern Neck.
But his admiration turned to anguish when it became obvious that the old house had been abandoned and left to the fates of time.
“I couldn’t bear to see it fall down,” said Miller, who bought the house with Johnny R. Hunt and set off on an ambitious restoration project that was recognized for excellence by the Northern Neck of Virginia Historical Society after it was completed in 2022.
Hague House and the story of its careful preservation will be presented to the public for the first time when the house and other Westmoreland County properties in the Hague/Coles Point area are featured in the Garden Club of Virginia’s Historic Garden Week in April.
