IRVINGTON—Prior to the town council’s regular meeting Thursday, members of the planning commission briefly joined council for a workshop related to charters, codes and ordinances.
As a means to promote further transparency and most effectively utilize legal resources, the council and planning commission determined they would incorporate a preliminary process when amending or adopting new ordinances.
According to planning commission chairman Tom Chapman, the new chain of events will begin with the planning commission developing ideas and concepts in a summary-like document which will then be sent to council’s charters, codes and ordinances committee for review.
Upon review from the committee, the document would then be sent to council as well as posted to the town website for residents….
