
HEATHSVILLE—Jerry Lynn Harvey, 67, passed peacefully Friday, May 30, 2025, in his home, after a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer.
He left behind his wife of 35 years, Deborah Jean Wright Harvey; and sister, Marjories Merritt. He also is survived by his children, Alicia Harvey Johnson (Ty), Ashley Nicole Teel, Warren Harvey and Patrick Harvey (Christina); his many grandchildren, Kristol Johnson, Parker Richie, Jade Johnson, Adelynn Teel, Brayden Harvey, Warren Harvey Jr., Waylen Harvey and Benjamin Harvey.
He was preceded in death by his father, Edward Harvey; his mother, Ethel Harvey; and his brother, Kenneth Harvey.
Jerry Harvey was born in Henrico to Ethel and Edward Harvey where he developed a strong work ethic and a deep love for family. After graduating from Hermitage High School, class of 1976, he went on to pursue a career with Pitney Bowes to which he dedicated himself for over 40 years. He obtained many technical degrees from J. Sargeant Reynolds and the knowledge gained was then shared with numerous others.
As a loving husband to Debbie, he was always there to offer guidance, love and laughter. Jerry cherished family gatherings and his presence at holiday celebrations brought warmth and joy to those around him.
Seven years ago, Jerry and Debbie bought a home in Heathsville where they chose to retire. He was proud to serve on the HOA at Betz Landing and acquired many friends. Jerry made a very lasting impression on the community.
Jerry had many passions in life with his number one being devoted to his loving wife and children and of course the Miami Dolphins. Jerry enjoyed sharing with his family his love for boating, being on the water, sports cars and wood working creativity. Jerry was a member of the Civil Air patrol in which he assisted search and rescue missions. He was known for his notable personality and sense of humor which could light up any room.
A celebration of life service will be held at 1 p.m. June 7 at Currie Funeral Home, 116 East Church Street, Kilmarnock, VA 22482.
A secondary service will be held at 11 a.m. June 14 at Derbyshire Baptist Church, 8800 Derbyshire Road, Richmond, VA 23229.
Friends and family are invited to pay their respects.
