WHITE STONE—John Jeffress Cardwell, 89, of White Stone passed away August 24, 2022. He was the son of the late Charles Patteson Cardwell and Katherine Jeffress Cardwell. He was a U.S. Army veteran.
He is survived by his wife, Kathryn A. Cardwell.
John was a graduate of St. Christopher’s School, Richmond, and University of Virginia.
His working career included Regional Manager for Life of Virginia, Northern Neck Insurance Company and manager for American Standard Insurance Agency until his retirement.
John served on the board of directors for the Bank of Lancaster for many years and two terms on the Lancaster County Board of Supervisors. He was also a member of White Stone, Irvington, Kilmarnock Rotary Club and a member of Grace Episcopal Church.
John was an avid tennis player and enjoyed the game until he was 85 years old.
He was a gentle man with a kind soul and will be missed by all that knew him.
Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, September 1, at Grace Episcopal Church Cemetery, Kilmarnock.
Currie Funeral Home LLC of Kilmarnock handled the arrangements.
