GLOUCESTER—John Roman Hedges of Gloucester, loving husband and stepfather of three children, passed away at the age of 59 on Saturday, January 22, 2022.
Roman leaves a huge hole in the hearts of his family and friends who were always entertained by his stories and hilarious sense of humor. He truly brought the life to the party. He had a passion for painting and loved to fish. Roman loved to sing anywhere and anything. His voice would surprise you and grab the attention of the whole room.
Roman liked to appear a little rough around the edges, but truly was a softy with a huge heart that would do anything for anyone.
Roman was born February 12, 1962, in New Jersey to Frances Spicer and Carl Hedges. He married the love of his life, Dorothy Louise Hedges on February 14, 1997.
He is preceded in death by his father, Carl Curtis Hedges; his eldest brother, James Edward Hedges, Roy Lee Hedges and Wayne Curtis Hedges.
He is survived by his wife, Dorothy Louise Hedges; three children, Stacy Harrison, Kimberly Calkins, Philip Harper; and 10 grandchildren who he loved with all his heart: his brother, Edgar Logan Hedges, half-brother, Tommy Smith; half-brother, Gary Hammerly; and several cousins, nieces and nephews.
Roman was a devoted and loving husband, father, son, brother, and friend who will be deeply missed by everyone who had the pleasure of knowing him.
A celebration of life will be on his birthday, February 12, 2022. Details will be announced at a later date.
