Joseph A. Mayor

LANCASTER—Joseph Alden Mayor, known as “Little Joe” departed this life on June 13, 2019 after a long and courageous battle with cancer.

Joe is survived by his daughter, Kimberly Jones (“Pumpkin”), and his precious grandchildren, James Tyler Jones (“My boy”), Reghan Layne Jones (“Porcelain doll baby”), and Mckenna Katherine Jones (“Little bit”), whom he adored and loved with all of his heart.

He is also survived by his sisters, Kathy Allison (Ricky) and Nancy Stinson (Mark); his beloved cousins, Jay and Jenny Sue Paige, and Johanna (Walter) Marusic; and several nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his parents, Joseph H. Mayor (“Papa Joe”) and Geraldine Paige Mayor (“Pete”); sister, Renee Etheridge; and his Nan and Pa.

Over his working life, Joe was a master electrician, plumber, carpenter, mechanic, glass cutter, farmer and waterman. Never a job he could not do.

He was a past member of the Upper Lancaster Volunteer Fire Department and Moose Lodge in Litwalton.

Joe will be long remembered for his great personality—never met a stranger in his life—and for his generosity and willingness to help others.

A celebration of Joseph’s life was held at 4 p.m. June 17 at White Stone United Methodist Church with pastor Bryan McClain officiating.
