Kathleen P. Haynie

IRVINGTON—Kathleen Pinckard Haynie passed away on November 15, 2016, at Riverside Hospital in Newport News. She was born on November 16, 1927, in Lancaster County.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 65 years, Edward Long Haynie; her parents, James Hurst Pinckard and Marien Longworth Pinckard; and her brother, James Hurst Pinckard Jr.

Kathleen was a graduate of Kilmarnock High School and attended the College of William and Mary. She was a dedicated housewife and mother. She was a long standing member of the Irvington Methodist Church, the Daughters of the American Revolution and the Northumberland Historical Society. Kathleen enjoyed researching genealogy, bird watching and wildlife.

Survivors include her sons, Edward L. Haynie Jr. (Diana) of Yorktown; and Thomas Pinckard Haynie (Arlene) of Apex, N.C.; grandchildren, Matthew Jon Haynie (Kelli) of Plant City, Fl., Christina Haynie Macedo (Ryan) of El Paso, Texas, Katie Haynie Caggia (Peter) and Thomas Edward Haynie (Shannon) of Apex, N.C., and Lauren S. Haynie of Raleigh, N.C.; and 11 great-grandchildren.

The family would like to acknowledge and give special thanks to Mrs. Haynie’s private duty aides for their constant care and assistance in helping to insure her the best possible quality of life.

A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, November 29, at the Irvington United Methodist Church, Irvington followed by interment in the church cemetery. A Celebration of Life will be held in the church fellowship hall following the interment.
