King William wins  multi-school cross country meet

King William, Tidewater District Class 2, won both the girls and boys races in a multi-school cross country meet at the course at Hills Quarter October 18. 

The Cavaliers barely edged Lancaster in the girls race, scoring a team low 27 points to Lancaster’s 28 as the runner-up. Middlesex and Westmoreland did not score as teams but had individual runners.

Reagan Walpole of KWHS was the individual medalist in the girls race with a time of 22:49, almost a full minute faster than her teammate, Ryleigh Frayser (23:44), who was the runner-up. Twenty-four runners ran in the girls race. 

Makayla Moore of Middlesex and DaNyiah Cofield of Lancaster raced to a photo finish with Moore beating Cofield across the line by a step. Moore placed third in 24:54 and Cofield fourth in 24:54.5.
