Lally leads LHS girls in state meet; RHS boys place fourth

Rory Lally placed third and fourth in two of her three events at the Virginia High School League Class 1 track and field championships Friday and Saturday, June 5-6, in Harrisonburg.

Leading the Lancaster High School girls team, Lally took third in the 800 meter run, 2:26.39, and cleared 7’6” to place fourth in the pole vault.

Northampton had the best finish among Region 1A teams as the runner-up with 51 points. Middlesex placed 13th with 21 points. Rappahannock High 15th with 14 points and Northumberland, 16th with 13 points. Some 34 teams participated. Cumberland won the state championship with 60 points. Lancaster scored 11 points.
