Lancaster advances to Region 1A semifinals

Lancaster collected 13 hits and drew six walks in a 6-2 win over Mathews on Thursday, May 29, and that moved the Red Devils through to the next round of postseason play.

Lancaster’s quarterfinal win over the Blue Devils earned them a shot at defending Class 1 state champion Rappahannock in this week’s Region 1A semifinal scheduled for June 3. A win in the semifinal would mean an automatic berth in next week’s state tournament. The regional championship game is tonight, June 5, at the higher seed between semifinal winners of Lancaster versus Rappahannock and Essex versus Northumberland.
