A community celebration is planned on Saturday, May 6, to recognize the Lancaster High School varsity boys basketball state champions. The public is urged to attend.
Congressman Rob Wittman will present each player a copy of a resolution adopted by the U.S. House of Representatives, reported event coordinator Carroll Lee Ashburn. Rep. Wittman also will present the school with a flag that was flown over the Capitol on the day the resolution was adopted.
The team will meet at 10:30 a.m. at the Boys & Girls Club of the Northern Neck, 517 North Main Street, Kilmarnock. The team will board a Bay Transit trolley and will be escorted around town by fire trucks, police cars and other vehicles to Town Centre Park, 150 North Main Street, Kilmarnock.
The caravan will proceed from the Boys & Girls Club south along Main Street turning right onto Church Street, left onto Irvington Road, left onto Main Street and right into the park, where Rep. Wittman will make the presentation at approximately 11 a.m.
