LANCASTER—The Lancaster County Circuit Court convened Friday, May 22, with the Hon. John S. Martin presiding.
In the case of Jesse L. Carroll of Staunton, charged with five felonies for selling/distributing a Schedule I/II substance, a status hearing was scheduled for June 5.
In the case of Rosa M. Turner of Smithfield, charged with two felonies for violating probation, a show cause hearing was scheduled for August 7.
Donovan R. Gregory of Lancaster, pleaded guilty to a felony for violating probation and was sentenced to three years and five months, with three years suspended and ordered to pay $193 in court costs.
In the case of Jerel L. Newton of Saluda, charged with felonies for selling/distributing cocaine and violating probation, a show cause hearing was continued to August 7.
In the case of Kai R. Renton of Heathsville, charged with a felony for violating probation, probation was revoked and he was given a four-year suspended sentence and ordered to pay $193 in court costs.
In the case of Jerrick D. Saunders of Lancaster, charged with two felonies and two misdemeanors for violating probation, a show cause hearing was continued and a status hearing scheduled for July 24. Saunders also is charged with a misdemeanor for trespassing after being forbidden. A trial was continued and a status hearing also was scheduled for July 24.
A sentencing hearing for Lakeya M. Carey of Lancaster, who was previously found guilty of five misdemeanors for violating good behavior, was continued to July 24.
In the case of Kendall C. Anderson of White Stone, charged with a felony for violating probation, a status hearing was scheduled for June 5.
In the case of Jelliska M. Barretto of Norfolk, charged with a felony for obtaining money under false pretenses, a status hearing was continued to July 24.
In the case of Shawn E. Jones of Kilmarnock, charged with two felonies for selling/providing a Schedule I/II substance and a felony for assault on a law enforcement officer, a trial was scheduled for September 4.
In the case of Douglas M. Mills, no address given, charged with a felony for abduction by force or intimidation, and misdemeanors for assault and battery of a family member, destruction of property and stalking with fear of death or assault, a bond hearing is scheduled for June 5.
In the case of Tyler R. Tomlin of Weems, charged with three felonies for violating probation, a show cause hearing was scheduled for August 7.
Carrie M. Crowell of Weems was found guilty of a felony for grand larceny. A sentencing hearing was scheduled for August 7. Crowell also was charged with a felony for unauthorized use of a vehicle. That charge was dismissed.
In the case of Kavon N. Kelley of White Stone, charged with a felony for malicious wounding, the charge was nolle prossed.
In the case of Robert L. Lucas of Lancaster, charged with a felony for malicious wounding, the charge was dismissed.
In the case of Cleveland M. Rice of Lancaster, charged with a felony for strangling with wound or injury as a result, Rice pleaded no contest to an amended misdemeanor hate crime assault. He was sentenced to 365 days with 335 days suspended, 12 months of probation and ordered to pay $287 in court costs.
In the case Calvin F. Taylor III of Kilmarnock, charged with felonies for selling drugs near a school or library and manufacturing/distributing a Schedule I/II substance, third-plus offense, a trial was continued to August 14.
In the case of Stephen L. Russell of Hanover, charged with a felony for grand larceny, a trial was scheduled for August 14.
Reminder, those charged with alleged crimes are presumed innocent until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.
