Despite the loss of a lot of scorers from the 2022 team, the Lancaster High School girls team returned to the Class 1 state championships as the Region 1A runner-up to score in five events and finish 12th among 33 scoring teams.
Lancaster scored 21 points, just a point behind Northern Neck District’s Westmoreland, 11th with 22 points. Tidewater District’s Middlesex tied for sixth with 27 points. Grundy and Northampton had the best finish among Region A teams as the runner-up with 66.5 points. Auburn was the state champion with 70 points.
