One-two-three Nothing! That was the chant the Lancaster High School boys tennis team said before each match this season.
There were no high expectations for this team, according to coach George Christoforatos. “So we used it. Nothing. But I got news for you, a first-year team formed during the middle of the season did a lot more than nothing. They made a run at the state.”
The LHS boys team advanced to the Class 1 state quarterfinals last week where Riverheads beat the Red Devils, 5-1.
“The difference was experience. [Riverheads] had a group of players who’d played many more years and matches than this young Lancaster team,” said Christoforatos. “But this first year team, put together during the year, just proved to me how good athletes who want to learn and be the best they can, will make a difference.
