Lancaster County Little League will open its 2024 season on April 12. Opening ceremonies will begin at 6 p.m. at Dream Fields, 1385 Irvington Road, Kilmarnock.

There will be the traditional parade of players to open the ceremony, according to Little League president Tiffany Wolfe. The festivities also will include guest speaker Chuck Parrish, Lancaster High School athletic director, and a recognition of all of LHS’s recent state-level competitors, including its 2023 state champion boys track and field team and the 2024 Class 1 championship boys basketball team.

Following the ceremony on the high school baseball field, games will begin with play “on all the fields,” said Wolfe. “We have close to 170 players this year, with six tee-ball teams, one more than last year.”

The league also includes softball and baseball coach pitch, minor, major and junior teams.

Tickets are still available for the Dream Fields sixth annual Opening Day Raffle with a grand prize of $10,000. Tickets are available for a $100 donation to the Youth Club of Lancaster County. There is also a $2,500 second prize, three $1,000 prizes, five $500 prizes and 10 $250 prizes. The drawings will be held following the opening ceremonies and winners don’t have to be present.
