LANCASTER—Although the Lancaster planning commission postponed a public hearing on the amended capital improvement budget due to an advertising issue, the commission on July 16 heard from Lancaster schools regarding the additional funds requested for two school projects.
The commission took no action on the matter.
The hearing, originally scheduled for July 16, had to be moved to August when the advertisement for the hearing did not appear in the newspaper of record for two weeks prior as required by law. Due to a computer issue at the paper, the order placed by the county only appeared the first week.
Welby Saunders, representing the school facilities committee, walked the commission through a proposed $13,145,184 renovation to the middle school which would allow the district to abandon the aging primary school. The district is asking for…
