Lancaster school board approves request for school construction bond

KILMARNOCK—The Lancaster school board on Monday, September 12, unanimously approved a resolution requesting the board of supervisors to issue a general obligation bond not to exceed $63,157,500 for the construction of the new middle/high school next to Dream Fields near Kilmarnock. The resolution also authorized the county to apply for the bond through the Virginia Public Schools Authority.

According to a presentation by Ted Cole of Davenport Public Finance at the June 30 board of supervisors meeting, supervisors will need to hold public hearings by late September and provide a firm commitment by early October to secure financing….
