Lancaster supervisors allow recovery center; take action on several other unrelated items

LANCASTER—Following a public hearing on Thursday, August 27, the Lancaster board of supervisors granted a special exception requested by Amy Harvey and Jennifer Bramblett of Twin Branch Wellness and Recovery.

There were no concerns shared by the public and the application was approved by the board in a 5-0 vote, contingent on the facility receiving an approval from the Virginia Department of Health. The residential property, formally a nursing home and church at 1471 Davis Mill Road, Lancaster, is slated to become a women’s drug and alcohol addiction treatment and wellness facility.

According to their application, they plan to offer 12-step and behavioral based recovery to around 25 women who “no longer need detoxification, but need a residential program and rest to maintain sobriety.” Harvey said they expect to employ “anywhere from 21-30 people,” mostly full-time.

Supervisors Jack Larson, Ernest Palin, Jason Bellows, Bill Lee and Robert Westbrook supported the exception.
