On Saturday, July 6, the Greater Reedville Association will offer a number of fun events to celebrate the Independence Day holiday, including a parade at 3 p.m.
The grand marshal will be Elizabeth Hinton “Sissy” Crowther. Raised on her family farm in Beverlyville, Crowther has deep roots in the community and is delighted to be recognized by the town.
“This is thrilling to me. I have rarely missed a Reedville Fourth Parade,” said Crowther. “It is one of the best and is a wonderful way to meet up with friends and enjoy the town.”
Crowther grew up riding her bicycle around Reedville, shopping with family members at Weaver’s Grocery, Reedville Market and Reedville Pharmacy. Her father regularly took the children after dinner to buy milk and bread at Bill Atwell’s Esso station and talk with friends. She also attended Reedville School and played softball on the field there.
