Lancaster track and field teams win Northern Neck District trophies

The Lancaster High School boys and girls track teams have collected one postseason trophy each after a dual victory at the Northern Neck District meet in Heathsville last Thursday. The teams head to Charles City today, May 26, to compete in the Region A meet.

The Class 1 state meet is at James Madison University June 3-4.

Girls meet

In last week’s girls meet, Deja Brown was a triple champ, clearing 4’6” to win the high jump and winning both the 100-meter (17.84) and 300-meter (55.93) hurdles to help lead Lancaster to 146 points and the district team title. Brown also finished third in the triple jump (30’5.25”).

Host Northumberland was the team runner-up with 75 points, Rappahannock third with 59, Washington & Lee fourth with 25 and Essex fifth with 18.

Hailey Smith also racked up the points for Lancaster, winning the….
