LIVELY—LaVerne Lee Schuyler (Lamb), 74, of Lively went home to be with the Lord on January 9, 2024. She died peacefully at home surrounded by family after a long battle with cancer.
She was born February 16, 1949, in Staunton to Hilda (Layton) and the late Charles Lamb. LaVerne graduated from Randolf High School in San Antonio, Texas, and spent several years stationed with her family in Misawa, Japan, before returning to the states to marry her high school sweetheart, Randall Schuyler, in 1969.
LaVerne left a successful career as real estate appraiser and loan manager with Bank of America in Camp Springs, Md., to raise her two children and later flourished as an artist, following her creative passion and launching her own business, Country At Heart, from her home studio. She also found joy teaching preschool at Waldorf Baptist Church and was ever present in her church community.
LaVerne was an immediate friend to all fortunate enough to meet her, forever putting others first and warming every room. She was happiest cooking for loved ones, cross-stitching, reading, and spending precious time with family and friends. She will forever be remembered for her generous spirit, love of Christ, and devotion to her family.
LaVerne is preceded by her father, Charles Lamb; and brother, Charles Lamb Jr.
She is survived by her best friend and husband of 54 years, Randall L. Schuyler; children, Jennifer Schuyler (son-in-law Travis) and Dean Schuyler (daughter-in-law Eleny); mother, Hilda B. Lamb; sister, Bridgett Lamb; grandson, Layton Schuyler; nephew and niece, Charles Lamb III and Ashley Lamb; beloved cat, Miyaki; and many extended family members.
The family requests, in lieu of flowers, donations be made to St. Judes Children’s Hospital, Corrottoman Baptist Church, and Charles Stanley’s In Touch Ministry in LaVerne’s memory.
Services were held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, January 16, at Corrottoman Baptist Church, Ottoman.
