Leonard W. Tillman

Leonard W. Tillman

WICOMICO CHURCH—Leonard Wayne Tillman, 75, of Wicomico Church passed away on January 29, 2023, peacefully and at home after a 17-month battle with glioblastoma.

He is survived by his wife, Vickie Tillman; daughter, Jen Tillman; daughter, Amy Tillman and son-in-law Ben Lookner; stepson, Jim Strom; stepson, Bryan Strom and his wife Kate; four grandsons; sister, Carol Tillman; and brother, Larry Tillman. He was preceded in death by his parents, Leonard and Marie Tillman and his daughters, Amanda Tillman and Nancy Tillman.

Leonard, or Len as he was known by friends and family, was born February 19, 1947, in Chester, Pa. After graduating from Penn State in 1969 Len began his CPA career with Price Warehouse while also serving in the US Army Reserves. After practicing with other firms and at the University of Maryland Hospital, Len opened and grew his own firm, Tillman & Santoni, in Baltimore County, Md.

Len was a gifted musician with perfect pitch. While his instrument of choice was the bass, you could also find him at the home piano playing along with numerous genres of music. Beginning in high school, all through college and into his adult life, Len played in numerous rock, jazz and big bands.

Also an avid sailor, he loved going fast and far. Upon retiring, Len and Vickie spent several winter seasons on their sailboat, cruising southern and Bahamian waters. When not cruising the Chesapeake or other waters, Len could be found on the golf course.

An active member in every community where he docked, Len was both treasurer and an elder in his Maryland church. Additionally, and for over 30 years, he served on the board of the Independent Dialysis Foundation. Perhaps one of his greatest joys in retirement was supporting the Northern Neck Orchestra, both as a board member and working on various other committees.

Memorial services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, February 24, at Wicomico Parish Church, 5191 Jessie duPont Memorial Highway, Wicomico Church.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions be made to Northern Neck Orchestra, P.O. Box 263, Kilmarnock, VA 22482; or Wicomico Parish Church Endowment, P.O. Box 70, Wicomico Church, VA 22579.

Currie Funeral Home LLC of Kilmarnock handled the arrangements.
