WHITE STONE—It is with great sadness the family announces the passing of Leslie Scott Childs on August 7, 2023. She was a resident of White Stone and formerly of Oakton.
Leslie was born to Guy and Thelma Scott of Washington, D.C., on July 18, 1940.
Leslie was predeceased by her husband of 60 years, John William “J.W.” Childs; grandson, Cody Scott Childs; and brother, Terry Scott.
She is survived by her beloved children, Hampton (Jean) Childs, Tinsley James, Todd (Patty) Childs and Gregory (Michele) Childs: her grandchildren, Michael Childs, Kallissa (Childs) Ross, Taylor Childs, Cole Childs, Brittany Hundley, Heather Samson, Jenna Makharita, Adam Makharita, Jessi Klotz and Justin Klotz; her great-grandchildren Zoey Childs, Maverick Childs, Jeremy Chambers and Jacob Tschetter; and siblings Courtney (Judy) Scott and Laura Scott.
Leslie was a devoted mother and grandmother who loved her family dearly. She enjoyed spending time with her family, riding their Boss Hoss motorcycle with her husband, boating, music, painting and DIY projects.
The family wishes to express their sincere appreciation to those who provided care to Mrs. Childs and for all the thoughts and prayers during this time.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial contributions are made to the Alzheimer’s Foundation.
