Lewisetta Junior Angler Fishing Tournament catches 52 youth

The third Lewisetta Junior Angler Fishing Tournament (LJAFT) was held Saturday, July 27, at Lewisetta Marina.

Jerry Hopkins and Sarah Harman started this event with the help of volunteers and the support of the local business community. The tournament continues to evolve.

A total of 52 community children participated, ranging from ages 2-16, reported Harman.

The kids fished from 9 a.m.-1 p.m., she said. Awards were presented to three age groups, 6 and younger, 7-12  and 13-16, with two categories in each age group, fishing from a boat and fishing from land. Each child who enters the tournament gets a free LJAFT t-shirt.
