LHS baseball team returns strong on the mound

The Lancaster High School Red Devils varsity baseball team returns almost intact from its 2021 season, when Lancaster finished as a regional semifinalist.

Coaches Welby Saunders and Scotty George return a full pitching staff of nine, led by seniors Brendan Walker and Jayden Chapman and junior Eli Pittman.

“We’re hoping [our pitching staff] will be a strength of the team,” said Saunders. “We’ve got a lot of guys back with experience and our defense should be strong.”

Pittman got the win in Lancaster’s season opening 17-1 slaughter of West Point and Walker got the win in the Devils’ 2-0 extra-inning win over Middlesex last Friday. Walker fanned eight batters in the….
