The Lancaster High School boys tennis team, in its first season, has earned a berth in the Class 1 state tournament.
The Devils beat Poquoson, 5-3, on Monday in the Region 1A/2A semifinals for a shot at Bruton in the regional championship. Win or lose, Lancaster will advance to the state tournament beginning June 2.
In the individual matches in the semifinal, DJ Zeiler beat Sam Nelson, 10-3, and Leyton Dew beat Andrew Horton, 10-6. Andrew Fulmer also beat Cole McDade, 10-6, and Thomas Major beat Oliver Fink, 10-6.
Lancaster’s Zeiler and Dew also won their doubles match, 10-5.
