The Lancaster High School girls team won four individual events and the boys won three to run away with both team championships in last week’s Region 1A track and field meet at Charles City.
Both teams advance to the Class 1 meet this weekend, June 3-4, at James Madison University in Harrisonburg.
The LHS girls repeated as the regional champion, scoring 34 points more than runner-up King & Queen. Hailey Smith was the region champion in the 800 and 1600 meter runs to lead the LHS girls team to 106 points for the team title. King & Queen was second with 72 points and West Point third with 66. Northumberland scored 60 for fifth place.
In the boys meet, the Red Devils’ Michael Foulkes and Reece Rhodes were the only individual champions but LHS had six regional runners-up to score 138 points for the team….
