Linda S. Menzer

DALLAS, TX—Linda Skerrett Menzer died May 29, 2023.

Linda S. Menzer

Linda was born April 15, 1947, and started her life in Garden City, Mich., near Detroit. Linda’s family later moved to Arlington. Parents Jack and Peggy Ryan Skerrett raised Linda and her four siblings in a loving, kind and sharing home.

Linda graduated from Wakefield High School in Arlington and then from Radford University in Radford.

Raised in a family who loved to fly, Linda earned her flying license at an early age and hoped to become an airline pilot, but rather became a flight attendant and flight attendant instructor with United Airlines. Traveling to and living all around the U.S. and Europe for 30 years.

Linda married Edward Heinrich Menzer in 1971 at Christ Church in Alexandria. Eddie, from Memphis, Tenn., had been an F8 fighter pilot in Vietnam and became a pilot for United Airlines. They lived in Alexandria, Leesburg and Arlington Heights, Ill.

They were always on the lookout for fabulous places to live. While flying, Eddie spotted the Northern Neck area of Virginia and they began to drive to the area to take a closer look. A cottage in Mathews, then a home in White Stone, became their homes. Eddie passed from a Vietnam related illness in 2009.

Linda met her life partner, Dean Linderman while visiting Leesburg. They loved their lives on the river together with their dogs and cats in White Stone, Weems and recently in Dallas.

Linda was a lover and a kind spirit. She loved her family, friends, life, home and all critters; dogs, cats, birds…all of God’s beings. She supported the Animal Welfare League as well as many other animal support activities.

She is survived by her partner, Dean Linderman, Dallas; her sisters, Anne Skerrett, Weems, and Bobbie Skerrett, Kilmarnock; her brother, William Skerrett and his son, Jonathan, and grandson, Mozz, of Baltimore, Md.; her stepsons, Mathew Menzer and wife, Apryl, and children, Benjamin and William, Wheaton, Ill., and John Menzer, Fairhope, Ala.

A Celebration of Life gathering will be held at 11 a.m. August 19 at Good Luck Cellars in Kilmarnock.
