KILMARNOCK—Marbary S. Harcum, 88, of Kilmarnock died on December 28, 2022.
He was a retired computer analyst with the Department of Defense, a former employee of Rappahannock General Hospital and Rappahannock Westminster-Canterbury.
Mr. Harcum was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean Conflict, a member and deacon of Morattico Baptist Church and former member and deacon of Corrottoman Baptist Church. He was the former owner of Deer Field farm and a former member of the King George Fire Department.
He was an avid baseball fan with the Baltimore Orioles being his favorite team. Mr. Harcum was a member of the Ottoman team in the Chesapeake Baseball League.
Surviving are his wife of 21 years, Virginia S. Harcum; daughter, Karen Clarke (Robbie) of Lancaster; sons, Bill Smith (Shannon) of Weems, Johnny Smith (Kim) of Kilmarnock and Jimmy Smith (Paula) of White Stone; nine grandchildren, Cody Smith, Casey Williams, Kelsey Clarke, Drew Smith, Ashleigh Lunden, Blake Smith, Callee Smith, Blair Smith and Amber Smith; three great-grandchildren, Clay Barnes, Claire Barnes and Adrian Williams; sisters, Verna Saunders of Kilmarnock, Judy Whatley of Oak Harbor, Washington; sister-in-law, Lois Rose of Kilmarnock; brother-in-law, Mike Bryan of Lancaster; several nieces and nephews.
Mr. Harcum was preceded in death by his parents, Hubbard and Verna Harcum; a brother, Jackie Harcum; and sister, Patsy McCarty Bryan.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Saturday, December 31, at the Currie Funeral Home, Kilmarnock, with interment in Morattico Baptist Church Cemetery, Kilmarnock. The family received friends one hour prior to the funeral service.
Pallbearers were Johnny Smith, Jimmy Smith, Cody Smith, Robbie Clarke, Stan Saunders and Billy McCarty.
