Memorial Day ceremony to begin with patriotic music

Piper Dave Hershiser of the Kilmarnock & District Pipe Band will provide special music.

The Northern Neck Chapter of the Military Officers Association of America (NNMOAA) will hold its annual Memorial Day Commemoration on Monday, May 30, at Historic Christ Church, 420 Christ Church Road, Weems.

The ceremony will begin with classical and patriotic music played by organist Ilona Duncan at 11 a.m. and will continue with a formal observance at 11:30 a.m., led by master of ceremonies Col. William Johnson and the officiant, Rev. Kimberly Glenn, rector of Grace Episcopal Church, reported retired U.S. Coast Guard Cdr. Greg Kirkbride, project coordinator.

The keynote speaker will be Commissioner Daniel M. Gade, PhD, who heads the Virginia Department of Veterans Services.
