FREDERICKSBURG—Service on the Merry Point Ferry in Lancaster County will remain suspended until further notice.
The Merry Point Ferry ceased operation on Wednesday, December 26, after the vessel’s hydraulic pumps malfunctioned, reported Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) public affairs manager Kelly Hannon. The ferry will remain out of service while replacement parts are ordered and installed.
Travelers are urged to check 511Virginia for real-time information on the ferry’s operational status.
The Merry Point Ferry is a free service operated by VDOT on scenic byway Route 604-Merry Point Road and Ottoman Ferry Road, it crosses the western end of the Corrotoman River, said Hannon.
