Motorcycle crash one of four fatal accidents

COLONIAL BEACH—Virginia State Police (VSP) troopers in the Richmond Division are investigating four fatal vehicle crashes over this past weekend.

Troopers encourage motorists to use seatbelts, approved motorcycle helmets and to avoid driving while fatigued, reported public information officer Sgt. Dylan Davenport.

At 9:38 p.m. on Saturday, October 2, VSP responded to a single-vehicle motorcycle crash on Monroe Bay Circle approximately 3/10 of a mile west of Wakefield Drive.

Robert K. Bowen, 47, of Colonial Beach was headed west on a 2006 Harley Davidson when he ran off the road to the left where the road curved to the right. Bowen became separated from the motorcycle and struck a tree. He was not wearing a helmet and succumbed to his injuries on scene, said Sgt. Davenport.

A fatal traffic accident also occurred in New Kent County, and two in Louisa County.
