Motorists experienced long waits as crews removed power line hangers from Norris Bridge

WHITE STONE—Brake lights and long lines greeted motorists on Tuesday, July 13, the first day of work on the Robert O. Norris Jr. Memorial Bridge.

Dominion Energy began the last push to finish the Rappahannock River Crossing transmission project with three days of work to remove the davit arms which have been holding power lines on the bridge since 1962. The one lane closure began at 9 a.m., and by noon, traffic was backed up to Allure Art in Center in White Stone and Rudy’s Pizza in Topping, leading to one-hour wait times. On Wednesday and Thursday, back-ups continued, but wait times were not as lengthy.

For most, the short inconvenience will be worth it as….
