Thomas Lomax Hunter III, the “Poet Laureate of Virginia” did not have that problem. Every Valentine’s Day from 1903 to 1948 he penned the perfect poem-of-love for his wife, Marie Doherty Hunter.
In a newly released book I, EVER YOURS, AND YOU, FOREVER MINE! Forty-Five Years of Love, published by longtime Essex County resident Marty Glenn Taylor, a selection of those poems comes to life.
Sandra Hunter Lear Orton, the granddaughter of Thomas and Marie Hunter, kept the treasured album of her grandfather’s poems. When Taylor and Orton met, they decided that this would be a perfect Valentine’s Day gift for anyone in love….
