The Northern Neck Orchestra (NNO) on Saturday, March 7, will present “Reformation” at the Lancaster Elementary School Theater, 191 School Street, Kilmarnock. A pre-concert talk will begin at 6:45 p.m. The concert will begin at 7:30 p.m.
Admission is by season subscription or $40. Tickets will be available at northernneckorchestra.org and the door. Students are admitted free with an online registration.
NNO will present three African American composers, one a Virginia resident, reported Bud Ward.
The concert will open with Carlos Simon’s “AMEN!” beginning with what one reviewer calls an orchestral “rumble” before a series of individual instruments’ syncopated rhythms. The piece often is featured in sermons….
