Like hundreds of communities across the nation, the Northern Neck is gearing up to commemorate the 250th anniversary of the American Revolution.
The NNK250 Coalition will officially launch commemoration efforts in February with the first program in what will eventually be four years of planned events, reported Lisa Hull, economic development and tourism coordinator with the Northern Neck Planning District Commission. Events will include speakers, podcasts and a variety of other special offerings. Information about NNK250 happenings is continually being updated and can be found at nnk250.us.
The NNK250 Signature Speaker Series will officially open at 2 p.m. February 11. The University of Mary Washington, Dahlgren Campus, 4224 University Drive, King George, will host Dr. Barbara Heath, professor of Anthropology at the University of Tennessee Knoxville. She will present “Conflict, Migration, and Early Settlement on the Northern Neck.” This event is free, like all events in the NNK250 Signature Speaker Series, and open to everyone.
