Northumberland plans to address absenteeism with Saturday School

CLARAVILLE—To combat absenteeism in the classroom, Northumberland elementary and middle schools will implement Saturday School programs.

Northumberland County Public Schools director of instruction Adam Letizia on Monday, September 11, outlined the plan for school board members.

According to Letizia, the Saturday morning classes will focus on attendance and academics with teachers assisting with organizational skills, classwork, homework, and administering assessments.

Sessions will be held from 9 a.m.-noon two Saturdays each month October through March. Transportation will be provided.
