HEATHSVILLE—Following a budget work session last Thursday, the Northumberland board of supervisors scheduled a public hearing at 7 p.m. April 12 on a proposed $17,732,956 school budget for fiscal year 2018-19.
As requested by the school board, the total represents an increase of $481,041, including an increase of $121,132 in county funds.
District 1 supervisor Joseph Self introduced a motion to schedule the public hearing. The motion passed unanimously, 5-0, with ayes from District 2 supervisor Richard Haynie, District 3 supervisor Jim Long, District 4 supervisor Tommy Tomlin, District 5 supervisor Ronnie Jett and Self.
Projected revenue sources include $11,735,602 from the county; $3,219,025 from the state; $1,438,893 from sales tax receipts; $943,417 from the federal government; and $396,050 from other sources…
