Organizations offer dental program

The Northern Neck Rotary Club, Northern Neck-Middlesex Free Health Clinic, Virginia Commonwealth University School of Dentistry, Virginia Department of Health (VDH), Lancaster Public Schools and Chesapeake Academy recently presented “Healthy Teeth-Happy Smiles.”

“It’s amazing what can happen when organizations come together in a common purpose,” said Northern Neck Rotary Club past president Bob Mullen.

The Rotary Club, seeking a way to better the community by utilizing available grants offered by Rotary District 7610, reached out to the clinic for ideas, reported Roy Cameron. The FHC was seeking ways to fund a pilot program to offer oral health education to elementary schools.

The VCU School of Dentistry rotates dental hygiene students through the clinic and allowed students to share their knowledge with Lancaster elementary students…
