Parade honors centenarian Tom Wilhelmsen

Living Water Lutheran Church on January 30 marked congregant Tom Wilhelmsen’s 100th birthday with a drive-thru celebration.

The party-planners had set out a chair and a heated blanket for him to use, but Wilhelmsen preferred to receive well-wishers standing up, hatless and gloveless, reported The Rev. Judy Thomson.

The birthday parade in Wilhelmsen’s honor was held at Rappahannock Westminster-Canterbury (RWC) in Irvington. He lives in independent living there, along with his partner, Claudia Holmes. Both are long-time members of Living Water Lutheran Church in Kilmarnock.

The church wanted to honor its centenarian….
