Polar Bear Plunge seeks participants, donations

YMCA/APYC Camp Kekoka board chairman Donna McGrath recently announced the 14th Polar Bear Plunge will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, January 28.

Taking the plunge into the chilly waters of Indian Creek will be individuals and teams, many who do it every year, to raise money for camper scholarships.

“I’m excited about being the 2023 chair because I love the camaraderie that’s formed leading up to the event amongst our Chesapeake Bank Team, I enjoy the thrill of plunging into Indian Creek, and most importantly I love being a part of something, alongside so many different people, all working towards the same goal of getting children to camp,” said Stacey Akers. “I’m looking forward to rallying our teams and individuals to raise money so we can get kids to camp!”

Thirty-three plungers raised a record $40,143 last year, which enabled 97 children to have an amazing camp adventure. They hope to have an even greater impact this year since….
